RESPONDING TO A LEGIONNAIRES' OUTBREAK IN AN INDUSTRIAL PLANT: A CASE
STUDY ******************************************************************* This
article describes an outbreak that occurred in 1998 among employees
of a plastic injection molding plant in Baltimore (USA). The article
highlights plant management's response to the illnesses, and OSHA's
response to management. The information is based on Maryland Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (MOSH) Case Files. Many thanks
to Scott Burgoon, Senior Industrial Hygienist with General Physics
Corp., for sharing information on this outbreak, which he researched
for his Master's thesis, "Legionnaires' Disease: Lessons for Industry." Since
the article contains three typed pages, we have posted it at http://hcinfo.com/industrialoutbreak.htm
instead of including it in this
e-mail. ******************************************************************* 2.
